HSC Chemistry is a recommended prerequisite to a number of STEM degrees, including Engineering, Science, and Medicine. Despite its wide applicability, it is often cited as one of the most difficult courses offered for the HSC, requiring students to grasp abstract concepts and apply them using often unfamiliar mathematical principles. Updates in the new syllabus have only increased the difficulty of this important subject, placing further emphasis on comprehension of tertiary-level concepts.
Studying Chemistry Year 12, at TuteSmart
Our syllabus is designed to unpack the difficulties of chemistry, and provide students with a thorough understanding of core concepts upon which extension learning can then be applied. We aim to help students refine their problem solving skills, become confident in mathematical reasoning, and strengthen their scientific communication for those harder long response questions. Our tutors are all recent high-achieving HSC graduates and current STEM students at university, which means they have fresh experience of the new syllabus as well as in-depth knowledge of the content. They are passionate and experienced at delivering content in unique ways to maximise student understanding.
The key to success in chemistry is application. This is why the HSC Chemistry program is designed so that students can consistently apply their learning and receive continual feedback. They will have access to weekly worksheets, revision questions for each syllabus dot-point, and regular exams designed to extend student capabilities. This will allow students to improve their exam preparation and technique throughout the year to achieve their best results.
